Biography

Tara Minton is an Australian born harpist, vocalist and composer. She is proudly endorsed by Camac Harps and holds a masters degree in jazz performance from The Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Tara is well established as both an improvising harpist and vocalist and has worked with Björk, Tom Walker, Miranda Mulholland, “Kitty, Daisy and Lewis”, SuRie, Stan Sulzman, Tommaso Starace, Toni Kofi and Geoff Gascoyne. She leads her own original project as a harpist/vocalist - her latest release "Please Do Not Ignore The Mermaid" received widespread critical acclaim. When not sitting behind her harp, Tara sings with “The Blues and Roots Ensemble”, a London based nine-piece band celebrating the music of Charles Mingus. Tara is a passionate music educator and advocate for the harp in jazz and improvised music and teaches as Professor of Jazz Harp at the London Performing Academy of Music.

Technical rider (equipment needed): Band must have a safe place to play away removed from guests/audience - preferably a raised stage or designated secure area. Band to be provided with drinks and a hot meal when applicable. Travel/congestion/parking to be paid by the client. Musicians cannot play outside during wet or windy weather, in direct sunlight or on uneven surfaces. If playing on grass or gravel, a mat must be provided by the client to protect the harp. The decision for whether the space to play is safe for instruments is the musician's alone. If a suitable space to play is not provided, the musicians are entitled to their full fee.
