Emma is a 18 year old saxophonist, composer, singer and multi instrumentalist with influences in jazz, funk, Brazilian and soul music. She plays in big bands, large and small jazz ensembles, and improvisation has a strong presence in her music. She studied at the junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama before studying at Chetham’s School Of Music for the end of her school career; she will soon begin her studies at the Royal Academy of Music. Currently she is part of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra’s Jazz Exchange, and is a deputy for their jazz orchestra, as well as having her own quartet. The music she makes places emphasis on connections between people, musicians and non-musicians alike, and her aim is to make music that everyone can take something from, regardless of background or situation.
